Pinterest and Instagram are all filled up with flawless calligraphy and lettering designs, beautiful flourishes and excellent curves that are so eye catching! You wonder how to include this stuff in your projects, cards and social media posts? Well, I hear you! Let’s see how you can add a touch of calligraphy to your work! There are of course, 2 solutions. :)
The first, and the most rewarding is to learn calligraphy. Be it classic copperplate calligraphy, modern playful calligraphy or brush lettering, it requires a bit of time to get used to supplies and the whole process. It takes time – maybe few weeks or months, but it’s worth the effort, believe me! Not only it helps you enhance creativity, but it also develops your patience, manual skills and it’s great for your brain and it provides an instant relaxation – it’s like a therapy – and this is no joke (you just have to try it for 5 minutes at least to see it for yourself). Why not give it a try? If you are willing to subscribe to our newsletters, you will receive some freebies to try calligraphy at home. Just to get an idea, you can use these sheets you will receive, with a pencil or fountain pen, just to test calligraphy and see if it fits you and if it does, you can then move forward.
But there is another way, a more fast and easy way. If you are a do-it-yourself or a designer or creative freelancer (but not limited to this, of course), you can use ready-to-use digital calligraphy assets to add in your projects. What do I mean by that? Well, I am sure you already follow at least a calligraphy or lettering artist (it is so nice to watch them work). Well, I am sure that some of them have the knowledge to transform their script in vectors – digital items in formats that can be easily included in designs using design apps – like Canva, Photoshop. Or even more, some transform their paper work into fonts.
However, not only this helps you get a touch of calligraphy to your projects, but you also get the chance of supporting an artist. Calligraphy artists usually live from this and pay taxes and invoices. :) So, what a win-win situation we have. You get to benefit from their skills and knowledge, but they also have an income. As an honest advice, if you like a calligraphy or lettering artist, find their site and purchase directly from there – this way their income is not cut off by market places that host their products.
And if you are asking what kind of ready-to-use digital calligraphy or lettering assets you could use, well, I am about to tell you I’ve created a bunch of cool designs and clip arts suitable for so many occasions!! Christmas, Valentines, Mother’s Day, Birthday, Thanks Giving, Weddings, Social Media and Website Words, Numbers Days Months and Seasons, Wedding Monograms, Easter. Gosh! So many and still working on baby shower and father’s day – by the way, if you think of any other popular occasions, do let me know, to be able to create more clip arts and designs for you! It takes at least two weeks to work and finish such a product – from sketching, to scanning, vectoring, preparing the visual presentations, post them on website and marketplaces, posting news about them on social media, promoting and so on. :)
Well, this being said I do hope you test calligraphy on your own, while also purchasing items from artists to support their small businesses usually.
Thanks for taking the time to read, you are marvelous! Best!
